Collection: Pottstown, PA

Pottstown sits in Montgomery County along the Schuylkill River. Its land was deeded by William Penn to his son John in 1701. Later, John Potts bought around 995 acres and in 1752 laid out a town first called Pottsgrove. The borough was formally incorporated in 1815 and renamed Pottstown.

Industrial growth followed railroad access (mid-1800s) and expansion of iron and steel works; Pottstown contributed metal to infrastructure projects like the Panama Canal and Golden Gate Bridge. Its economic peak was mid-20th century; since then, deindustrialization and suburbanization have shaped its modern identity.

I hope you enjoy this collection of paintings of Pottstown landmarks. The collection will grow as I create new works as inspired by those in and around town.
